The American Cancer Society in association with the Ray Hubbard Bass Club and Scott Gordon Outdoors held the second annual Fish For A Cure benefit tournament yesterday, October 21st on Lake Ray Hubbard. All proceeds from the tournament were donated to the American Cancer Society. 60 boats came out to fish with us. I arrived at Bass Pro in Garland at 4:00AM Saturday to find the flag on top of the building flapping strongly in a stiff south wind. While the temperatures were warm, the wind made sure no one was going to have an easy day on the lake. One thing about Ray Hubbard, when she gets nasty, the fish tend to bite. That was the case yesterday as several teams brought in close to 20 pounds and one team eclipsed the 20 pound mark. There were eight bass over 6 pounds brought to the scales and another just under 6. When it was over, the team of Steve Black and Eric Krause weighed in a huge limit of 21.03 pounds to take the victory. Big bass of the event was a 7.64 toad weighed in by the second place team of Kelly Langhorne and Jeremy Collins.
First and foremost let me say that the most important part of this day was the fact that all of us combined to raise $28,000.00 for the American Cancer Society!
