Preston Smith and David Horton

The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our eighth members-only tournament of 2025 last Saturday September 13th on Cedar Creek. It was hot and not much wind, but still rough out there as our friends the pleasure boaters and jet skiers obviously did NOT get the message that it was time to winterize their watercraft! Twenty-three boats came out to fish and wave jump and fishing was pretty tough. Eight limits were weighed in and almost as many zeroes. When all was said and done, the team of Preston Smith and David Horton lapped the field with a massive limit that weighed 22.83 pounds! Their winning bag was anchored with the big bass of the tournament, a 7.32 toad. FYI, my apologies for being a few pictures short. We have a new camera and I did not correctly perform the needed steps early on to get it to actually take a picture. I have learned my lesson.

Thanks to everyone that came out! Thanks to Hector and Chad for handling registration. Thanks to Eugene and Tyler for running weigh in and thanks to Garrett for being keeper of the cash.

We have one tournament left in the regular season. It’s on Saturday October 11th on Cypress Springs Lake. The AOY race is coming down to the wire! We will also be busy this Saturday, September 20th on Lake Ray Hubbard for the Chad DeFrates Memorial Tournament. That is an Open. We hope you will come out and help support Hunting With Soldiers! Hope to see you there!
