The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our first tournament of 2026 on Saturday, February 14th on Lake Hawkins. Dire weather predictions and Valentines Day kept our numbers down a little bit, but 22 boats came out to fish with us. The weather was predicted to get nasty by late morning, but we were lucky and other than some light rain the big stuff held on until after we were done. Just after… the skies opened up on us during weigh in, which made taking pictures almost impossible. So we only have a couple of our bigger stringers and fish from cell phones.
Thanks to Bryce Hatch and Randy Bridges for getting those. Fishing was pretty tough for most, which surprised us thinking that with warming water and an incoming front it would be pretty good. Only 6 of 22 teams had limits and not a lot of big fish were caught. When we were done, the team of Tyler and Landon O’Connor lapped the field with a monster bag of 22.63 pounds with a 5.66 kicker. Big bass went to the team of Jim Phillips and Randy bridges with a 6.21 toad.
Thanks to Eugene McBride and Tommy Yates for doing registration and keeping the money straight. Thanks to Eugene, Jeremy and Chris for helping with weigh in so we could keep the weigh sheets dry enough to read them. Thanks to everyone that came out. Next up is the RHBC Open coming up next Saturday February 28th on Lake Ray Hubbard. You do NOT have to be a member to fish this one! Hope to see you there!
